From Page 2 from the Introduction Chapter of the Plan:
"This Master Plan is a working list of action items that were determined by the community and the City as critical to the on-going improvement of the Park and to the citizens of greater Los Angeles who use and enjoy the Park. The decision to develop a new master plan grew out of the desire of local citizens to preserve and protect this great resource called Elysian Park."
The 1971 Elysian Park Master Plan was developed by Cornell, Bridgers & Troller in accordance with the agreement with RAP on December 10, 1970. This plan recommended the development of recreation facilities, and the acquisition of open space to expand the park. Many of the recommendations came to fruition, and conceptual designs were adapted for future generations.
